To be fair tho, a lot of you actually make _some_ effort to post something interesting the comments, but you should see some of the stuff i dont let thru hah.
Downside to that is then i proabbly won’t get any traffic at all! lol

Hi something i too think that i should stop all blogging stops commenting but then i feel, what will i do after that, have you think about that. i am so Addicted to it .
Hi Hugh,

I hope you remain do-follow. It’s a small way of “sticking it to the man”. Be a rebel! Stand up the big corporations!
Just keep deleting the spammy comments and once it a while, just to make it fun, leave a comment, but change the url to something like http://www.spam.com. Make if fun (that’s what I do, anyway).

Hi Hugh,
making your blog dofollow is just a small contribution to your dedicated commenter. Comments are useful for a blog to create a intense debate about the post and from there each of you are learning something.
Hello,
By becoming nofollow you will then lose the battle with spammers! I finally got rid of all the comment spam by using Askimet along with a plugin that I found on the wordpress site, that makes users click on a few images before they click on submit. After I installed that plugin, I can honestly say that my spam has gone to 0%.
Keep up the good work and don’t let spammers win!
Warm wishes,
Stephan

There is pro’s and con’s in doing this. Since everyone of us is looking for quality sites with dofollow and commentluv plugin. I hope in the end you choose to retain them.
My last comment got lost here. I think you should remove the comment luv. That may turn off some spammers. If you can tolerate both the dofollow and comment luv, its going to be great!
It’s amazing how many people try to take advantage of people who allows these plug ins on their blog. Just leave a relevant comment and help the discussion instead of spamming for links.
that’s one of the problems with no follow. people post for a reason =) other than commenting. may I suggest you get an assistant to moderate your post? you can outsource this at really bargain prices!
Stop being lazy and try to filter out the comments, just giving up Do follow and commentluv may drop your page rank lower. No do follow on your blog would mean no more RSS subscriptions, which may further impact your rankings. As for commentluv, it is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a blogger. They’re also a great indicator of the success of your blog, and good comments will help it a long way!
That make a lot traffic in your blog too.!!!

Why you will do like that, because of dofollow comments you are also getting benefited.
I hope you remain do-follow. Have you tried any captcha plugin?
Hey, Im a fan of DoFollow and use it on all of my own blogs. I think it is very important to moderate the comments strictly though as I find I get a lot of spam. No comment is ever automatically approved on my blogs.

I share your joys and frustrations in one DoFollow blog I have. While a lot of people are interested and will have interesting comments, the rest are just plain rubbish. I see the same spam posters doing their daily rounds but there’s no way my filter even lets them through. A waste of bandwidth I say. Obviously freaking spam bots. I just hate that.

I would try reporting more people to askimet who abuse this privilege. This should prevent them from posting comments on any site who users that feature. I hate people who ruin a good thing for the rest of us by not following simple guidelines.
Don’t let the spammers win! You have to stay do follow, just make sure you approve the comments that get through and don’t let any old rubbish in!

I really don’t blame you for doing so. It’s amazing how many people abuse this function. If i were a website owner I would hate having to go through all that spamming for links.
Web designing has been the forte of E2 Solutions; a fact which is reiterated by the whole industry and recognized by all its clients. This time around the company has gone one step further and created an amazing new website for itself, http://www.E2Solutons.net the product of months of hard work that went into analyzing, designing and programming the new venture, this new website is a visual treat for its users. Equipped with an excellent user interface, it is sure to catch a great number of eyeballs and that too very rapidly. The website launch marks a moment of pride for the company and its employees who have worked tirelessly to plan and execute this project which holds great importance to the company itself.
I think Google actually recommended blogs doing this to prevent people from comment spamming. It’s sad that this was designed to reward people for contributing to the discussion on blogs and turned into a means to spam for links. Once again spammers screw things up for everyone else.
I see more and more do follow blogs removing this option every day. You think people would realize that by spamming for links you are just forcing people to remove the do follow links that we all benefit from. Any good link opportunities that were available are now gone because people had to abuse this feature. It’s quite sad.
I wouldn’t disable the option before exploring other solutions. For instance, make sure you have Akismet activated. This should pick up most of the spammy comments without any input from your end. Perhaps put up a CAPTCHA to prevent automated forms of spam. I would guess this should take care of most of the problem.

I agree with James, Akismet is a good tool to weed out spammers and there are some who take time to read the what is written.
I agreee with Captcha. It is a pretty useful tool, simple and keeps the bad away. It is great that you have keywordluv and commentluv though
Putting up captcha is not a good option as those spammers have scripts that easily manage to break the captcha code. Akismet is fine and works best.

Yeah everyday more and more spam get in. Well not really since I have Akismet on. But the time it takes to go through all that junk just in case of a false positive, ughhh. I noticed this especially ever since I made the blog doFollow. Glad Akismet is there to prevent it.
I once read this blog that talked about spam. The blogger proceeded to comment on sending back the spam to their owners/posters via email. Would have been payback time yes? A good idea but only if the emails used by these spammers aren’t fakes or hijacked.
