Boooooo. My linkwheeling had been funneling quite a nice amount of quite responsive traffic to my money page for the last 2 months. Then this morning i check my email and found that the keystone in the wheel had been “been flagged by our system as a violation of our Terms of Use.” Booo.
I’m guessing it was this particular section of the rules that it was violating.
* You must have no more than 1-2 links to any one domain on a page of original content (tinyurl and other cloakers are considered wildcards). Note that this means that you may not have any promotional links on hubs that appear elsewhere on the internet.
So i have removed all the links bar 2. One back to the money site and the other one which extends the wheel to a different blog with more information about the product on it.
All the big web 2.0 sites seem to be cracking down hard on affiliates pages lately. Squidoo have some new ultra sensitive spam detection in place on certain keywords and topics. Forex being one of them which is a shame. This means you have to start to really put up some quality content when you are using these sites. They can be a very important part of your marketing plan, especially if you mainly use bum, so we have to respect them or we will lose the use of them.
Off the fix up the hub in question!

It’s funny they didn’t send you a notice first. When I’ve been in the same position I first received mail telling me to change it. So I did and there was no more problems.

Hey Hugh, sorry about the strict rules, but if we want HubPages to stay a quality place to write content we really have to enforce these types of things.
Email me your profile link and I’ll be more than happy to take a look at your Hubs to see if there’s anything else that you can do to get them in better shape.
Thanks for fixing them up and feel free to let me know about anything else that you might have a question on. We’re here to help, my man.

haha no way!
hey Hugh,
I agree with Ryan that it’s important to keep hubpages a “quality” place. I’m also glad to hear they’re carrying some weight since I’ve got a hub of my own and was wondering if it was worth it. Sorry you got pwnd, but look at the silver lining, eh? And a good reminder to always diversify and have a plan B.

I absolutely agree yes. I have fixed the hub up and am back to a score of 77 after it dipping right down to 50 something. I only have 2 hubs, 1 of which is active (i might actually delete the other now!) and it does play a large role in my traffic funnel so i plan to stick to the rules!
I am using hubpages for my site campaign and yes in some way it help my site. The hubscore is very annoying though because it keeps on going up then after days it went down and I don’t deeply understand why is that happening until such time I read the above quoted rules from hubpages. Certainly my quick response was to place at least two links for my site and hurrraaahhh my hubscore stayed at its highest at 89 in maybe a month but definitely went down again. I think yeah, it’s the quality that matters. But the question is how do they define quality?
Yeah it’s pretty random. I think it could also be related to the traffic your hub gets. I’m sure there are a ton of requisites for a good hub score.
BUSTED! I think a lot of these sites are cracking down because big brother G is telling them too. Quality content is still trying to be king.

Hey Hugh,
I’m not sure if you know or not, but if your specific hub score goes below 50, or your overall hubber score goes below 75, the links in the hubs become no-follow, so they are of no seo value for google…
It can be a bit of work to keep the hubber score above 75. ~ steve, the trade show guru

I sure do know that. luckily both that particular hub and my hubber score sit around 80 most of the time! i only need that hub for another week or so, so wont have to keep up the maintenance for ever!
I already know about the rules of hub pages. I thought of placing a link of my site. I do agree that quality is the constraint that matters the most. Quality is in the way how you post a message focussed to the subject described in it.

Yeah, I too agree with you guys… Until and unless there are some quality standards in the hub pages, there is no point in writing it… The messages must have some quality to be added in a blog also.Hence Quality can be considered as a crucial factor as for as posting are concerned.
Thanks for the interesting post. I used to have a couple of hubpages but have abandoned them because of the amount of work involved. I look forward to reading more posts from you in the future.

Yes.. I accept .. all the web 2.0 sites have become too strict.. They remove all the pages that they find it from the same IP. But we business people can’t use the same account to crack the site always. Angeline @ DIY solar power

great information Hugh. I’ve posted articles on Hub pages and yet I didn’t recognize any of these.
The same thing happened to me. I was accused of being overly promotional. So I stopped writing on Hubpages.
