Google hates me :(

by hugh on July 9, 2009

Lately i have been looking into a lot of free traffic methods, i discovered something that Google doesn’t like. You might have seen those services offering automated social bookmarking for backlinks? Well they don’t work terribly well. I like to have control over where things are posted so my sites don’t get posted to irrelevant sites therefore hurting my rankings.

Observe this screen shot of a site i have been tracking using the awesome Market Samurai.

Have a guess when i started using this automated service? Indeed.

Now do not fear. As this service is not available to the public i have been beta testing it. I will be sure to let them know about some of the problems i have encountered with it so they can fix them before they go public.

This all comes down to consistency and relevancy. Google loves relevancy, in fact i would actually call it a relevance engine not really a search engine. So make sure that you know where your pages are getting bookmarked, target your keywords and make sure they are relevant!

when you do that this happens.

Yeah, web marketing is very complicated issue, one mistake and your PR goes straight to the bottom line. Sometimes I wonder is it possible to choose just one bad option, one fatal tool that would destroy months of work? Because if it is possible than I feel a little bit uncomfortable with it. Google is creating its own game and we all are just a players that need to be subjected to the game master. I don’t see anything wrong with it, google made it, google make the rules, it’s simple. But sometimes those rules seem not only unfair but also harmful – for those who want to give something from themselves and have no such possibility.

This is one of the reasons I’m not very fond of automated tools which you have no insight in. I tend to go through everything manually at least two times before turning it into a automatic tool.

Every automation in trying to get more and more traffic is a bad move. I would even say that it can kill your blog. Automated devices are things that are the curse of all bloggers. And Google is doing a lot to avoid such spam devices to go successful. A hard human work is needed and Google knows that. Also many bloggers know that and use many anti-spam tools to avoid robots giving them automatic comments and many more. I think that this is a good thing that Google avoids using such devices. It makes the whole internet less filled with spam.
