Over the last several weeks you may have noticed that the US economy is a little pear shaped. The media is hyping this up to be the beginning of the worst recession since the 1930’s. This is bad news for affilates as when the media is scaring people like this they tend to hold onto their wallets and stop the spending.
All this talk of a recession of course has coincided with quite a significant drop is sales. After reading countless threads on Digital Point about how people usually convert at 1:75 but now they haven’t converted in over 500 hops indicates that there is indeed something amiss somewhere. But where?
Not everyone is being hit by this latest buyer scarcity however, some are reporting record sales during this time. My stats have been far too erratic lately to even begin to understand what may be happening. If you check the CB Index as provided by the ever so handy cb-analytics site it does indicate that lately there has been quite a significant drop in sales across the board.

So, what is the problem? Clickbank stated themselves in their system log that they were having processing issues at the exact time that the sales started to drop.
2008-09-10
On 2008-09-10 from 1:46 a.m. PST to 7:14 a.m. PST our credit card processor experienced intermittent outages, resulting in the inability to consistently process credit card orders. Other payment types worked during this time. The system status page was updated to reflect the issue. We have been assured from our credit card processor that the problem is now resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience this interruption may have caused.
This has been backed up by numerous publishers stating they had received many emails from prospective clients saying how they would very much like to purchase their wares however this is proving difficult due to payment processing errors. Emails I might add, that are continuing to this very day.
So it seems obvious to me that people are still wanting to spend their money, they are trying to spend their money, but ClickBank or something is holding them back.

I wish I was doing enough sales in QB to be able to detect a trend. But 2 sales does not a trend make!

I don’t use Click Bank. I have it, but haven’t made a sale. I have made one sale for Fast Blog Finder, but that’s about it. Need to make 3 more before I can get paid.
I think affiliate programs work way better.

Taylor, there are plenty of other affiliate networks that many people prefer over ClickBank. However i have found CB to be great. Not many networks offer such huge payouts! I promote a product where i regularly make over $100 USD a sale! Just put some work in, nothing happens without it.
Pull the curtain and you’ll find me.
