A few posts ago I had a bit of a fit about SENuke. It is pretty fantastic and i think you should check it out. I am running a few campaigns using it and seeing very nice results. I thought i would create a campaign and do absolutely nothing to it after the initial Nuking.

Here we are almost 1 month later (only a few days short) and i’ll show you the stats for the wordpress blog that is somewhere in the middle of the link network.

Check it out! Now i promise you i have done nothing since the initial setup. That was this site, a few others (this didnt end up being a wheel as i lost the passwords to the other sites!) and some social bookmarking and rss feed submissions etc.

I chose a “doable” keyword for this and it is ranking top 3. I would have liked to see more traffic but obviously the keyword was not the best choice. However i will develop some landers on here for other keywords and see how it goes. It is selling a ClickBank product that pays $30. I have made 1 sale! huhuh. 1 sale you say, not very much you say. Well this did take me about 2 minutes to setup and let me remind you again, i did no extra work on it since. Imagine what happens when you put the effort in!

This one i started several days before hand and have put some more work into it. The traffic is fairly erratic as its coming mostly from regular article submissions. Yesterday an article was live on ezines so that’s where most of that came from. I have made quite a few more sales with this and it is slowly creeping up the SERPs.

So there you go. This has all been made possible because of SENuke. The time taken would have literally been hours and hours for these two, but i would estimate i spent max 10 mins on the first one (got a little excited earlier ) and about 1 hour total on the second. This is not including submission time as that can take 20 mins for a large network of sites.

I installed this plugin from Gigya. Seems pretty good so far. Was fairly simple to setup tho I am sure there are easier implementations of it. It allows anyone to login and comment on the blog with any of their social networking accounts. Twitter, FaceBook, MySpace etc.

Hey all, I have recently installed the Thesis theme. Of course at the moment it is very much the default settings, but Thesis is amazingly customizable so in the next few weeks you will see some changes!

BTW, you should really check out Thesis, it is crazy good. I had been holding off for ages but took the plunge and am extremely impressed with it so far.

Here is a big list of update services for you to whack into your wordpress settings. just copy and paste them into Settings > Writing > Update Services. Having more in here is a better idea than just leaving it with the default pingomatic entry tbh.

Too easy!

Hi! Long time no write. Sorry to all my millions of readers for the lack of posts. But as I have said before on here somewhere, i aint no writer.

Just something that has popped up again lately after i started to promote a new product. This product is in the gaming niche and if you are a bit of a nerd then you can find all that it tells you for $0 on the net (like pretty much all ebook packages but anyway). Being in the gaming niche there is a good chance that some hardcore gamers might find your review or whatever and proceed to try to tell you how much of an arsehole (I’m an aussie that’s how it’s spelt) you are for selling something that is freely available with about 10 seconds of pretty elementary Google…ing. (Googling?).

This happened again (has happened on many a youtube video) yesterday and continues today, when my review site was posted on a pretty high traffic gaming forum. When i checked this morning i had 7 comments waiting to be moderated and each and every one of them had some very colourfull language and a thoughtful link to a website where you can download everything for free.

I was kind of expecting this so in my review of the product i actually stated that you can indeed find all this info for nothing if you are prepared to look. This package actually is quite a nifty little bundle which offers quite a bit more which hardly anyone noticed it seems, but i think this is what saved me from more defamatory comments.

So i guess the point of this post is to remember, if you are promoting questionable products, don’t just copy the copy that the publisher offers you in their affiliate tools section, paste into an email or blog post and hope for the best. Have a think about what kind of people are likely to read it and how they might react. Not everyone is a stupid internet newbie and when they find you they will let you know which in turn can harm your sales if every one reads those comments.

Keep comments on but keep them moderated. Comments are an important part of blogs as they can offer testimonials on the products that you promote. I do sometimes let a few negative ones through but i like to respond to those and reassure anyone else that its not all a load of bullshit.

You might have noticed that I installed the CommentLuv plugin a little while back. This plugin extracts the latest blog post of the commenter and links it in with their comment. This is a good way to let your commenters get some extra traffic from people who are reading your blog comments. What most blogs dont do which I will do for you, is install the dofollow plugin. This disables the rel=nofollow attribute in comments which means the commentluv links not only get you some extra traffic but also another backlink to your site!

So comment away! gain some extra linkage and lets all help each other! *group hug* *spew*

You might have noticed that i just changed the theme. I wanted to get away from the adsense them tbh. It did make a little bit of money but not really that much in the grand scheme of things. The last blogohblog theme i used killed my stats so I will test this one for a while and see how it performs!

So WordPress 2.6.1 is out. I used to hate updating as i didn’t really know how to use any shell commands. Anyway now i do know and its rather easy. You have to have shell access to your server to be able to do this!

This is what i do, you can copy and paste these commands directly into PuTTY or whatever you are using.

First i change into the directory that the blog is in, mine is in a directory called blog.

1. wget http://wordpress.org/latest.tar.gz
2. tar xfz latest.tar.gz
3. rm -rf ./wp-admin
4. rm -rf ./wp-includes
5. cd wordpress/
6. cp -rpf –-reply=yes * ../
7. cd ..
8. rm -rf ./wordpress/
9. rm -f latest.tar.gz

That’s it! It takes about 1 minute! This is especially handy if your host doesnt have some kind of auto upgrade feature in the control panel. Please remember to backup your blog before doing any upgrades.

So i found a list of rad wordpress plugins on a forum, i kind of agree on a few of them but not on some. So i thought i would edit the list and add a few of my own favs.  I will keep this list updated as best i can!

1. Akismet- Got crazy spam problems? I use this plugin on all my blogs, all you need is a WP API key. Stops all spam in its tracks!
2. FeedBurner FeedSmith-Feedburner is a very popular web feed management provider. This plugin detects all ways to access your original WordPress feeds and redirects them to your FeedBurner feed so you can track every possible subscriber
3. Google XML Sitemaps- A great boost to SEO. Google loves sitemaps and uses them to help them determine what information should be indexed.
4. Lighter Menus- Lighter Menus creates drop-down menus instead of the regular admin menus of the WordPress interface, so that you can browse items with one click and work at your blog in a much more usable environment.
5. Plugin Central- I have only just discovered this little gem. I hate having to SSH or FTP into the server to install a new plugin, this thing does it all from within the dashboard!
6. Subscribe To Comments- Lets people chose to subscribe to the comments on your blog.
7. WassUp- Real time stats (OS, browser, host, referrer, location, top content, top searches) help you determine which content and marketing efforts are working, and give you immediate satisfaction when you have site visitors. Plus, there are great sort options.
8. StatPress- There are plenty of stat plugins, make your choice!.
9. WP-DBManager- I think one of the most important things to do in any business is to keep regular backups!
10. bookmarkify- Great social bookmarking plugin. This lets your readers promote your blog!
11. commentluv- Give the people that comment on your blog additional incentive using CommentLuv. This plugin searches their RSS feed and adds a link to their last blog post in their comment. Your commenter gets a keyword rich anchor link to his/her blog!
12. keywordluv- Reward your commentators by separating their name from their keywords in the link to their website, giving them improved anchor text.
13. AdSense Manager- If you are looking to monetize your blog then this is a fantastic plugin, it is extremely flexible in that it allows you to do so much more than just insert adsense code into your blog. Plus you can use this plugin to insert your opt-in box within the content. Great flexibility.
